Race will take place at Bldg. 10 South

On Your Mark, Get Set…Go!  It’s time for the 34th NIH Institute Challenge Relay.  The NIH Recreation and Welfare Association, members of the original NIH Health Angels and the Division of Amenities and Transportation Services of ORS, are excited to invite you to this year’s relay.  Last year we had a record of 112 teams and 560 runners but no one was faster than “Charm City NeuRUNS” who finished with the fastest time in over a decade! Does your squad have what it takes to unseat them?  The rules are the same but the route has changed.  The Relay consists of teams of five runners, each will run a route around Lot 10H.  All Institutes, Centers, Divisions, and Contractors are invited to enter as many teams as they wish.  Each team must have men and women runners with at least two runners of the same sex (you can have a team of two females-three males or three females-two males).  Come out and join the fun!  The race will be held on Thursday, September 28th beginning at 11:30am, at the South lawn of Bldg. 10. Participants will run a loop around Lot 10H.  It’s time to put on your thinking caps and think creatively about your team name.  Examples from last year include: Champ Ions, Here for the Beer (Research), Chlor-Ride Like the Wind, Dashing Dendrites, Flossed and the Furious, Hear Today Hertz Tomorrow, and The Hyper Tensions.  However, the most important part of the race is to have fun and enjoy the company of your fellow NIHers.  Remember, contractor teams are welcome as well as more than one team per Institute.  Registration is $15 per team.  We ask that each group leader also provide the name and contact info for one volunteer, there needs to be 26 per heat for the relay to commence.  Relay shirts will be given out to participants at the relay while supplies last and participants can take team photos courtesy of Parti Pics Photo Booths.  Also make sure to visit event sponsors including the NIH Federal Credit Union, Southern Management, Corrigan Insurance Agency, DigitalUrgentCare.com, PNC Bank, Sprint, Triangle Towers Apartments, Heartlands Organic Food, Solar World, and Renewals by Anderson.  Also a special thanks to Geico for being a sponsor.  To volunteer or for more info contact David at browned2@mail.nih.gov.

Heat 2 will run from 12:15pm – 12:45pm
