The 6th NIH Safety, Health and Wellness Day will be held, rain or shine, from 10:30am – 1:30pm on Wednesday, June 28th, at the Clinical Center South Lobby and outdoor area.   Everyone is welcome to participate in the activities and learn about safety, health and wellness opportunities at the NIH.  The Office of Research Services, Office of Research Facilities, NIH Occupational Safety and Health Committee, IC Safety and Health Chairpersons Committee, Laboratory Sustainability Group, the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, and the NIH Recreation & Welfare Association and the NIH R&W Fitness and Wellness Program are partnering to increase workplace health awareness and promotion.  This year’s event focuses on employee nutrition, wellness, physical fitness, safety awareness and how to prevent or reduce work related injuries and illnesses.  Over 50 exhibitors, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Food and Drug Administration, and the Defense Intelligence Agency will be in attendance.  An array of activities and exhibits including free health screenings, nutrition demos and tastings, and a special R&W Farmers Market will be offered.  Exhibits by NIH Institutes and Centers will include heart saver CPR training and an Elder/Adult dependent care information and resources fair.  Work up an appetite doing physical fitness activities, provided by the NIH R&W Fitness and Wellness Program, then purchase lunch from a selection of food trucks including Chix ‘n Stix, Linda’s Luncheonette, and Captain Cookie & the Milkman.  Visit http://www.ors.od.nih.gov/sr/dohs/HealthAndSafety/Pages/Safety-Health-and-Wellness-Day.aspx for more info.  Individuals needing reasonable accommodations to participate should contact Carole Harman at 301-402-8180 and/or the Federal Relay at 877-709-5798.  Staff located off campus can park for free in the MLP-11 parking garage off of Rockville Pike during the event.
